Selection Criteria of different types of Extractors

This paper provides the summary and comparison of the different type of extractors. It can be noted that mix-settlers are suitable for the easy phase-separating systems that require a large number of theoretical stages. Columns without agitation are often used for easy phase separation with a low number of theoretical stages while agitated columns are suitable for the moderate phase separation with a large number of theoretical stages. Moreover, Centrifugal extractors are often used for difficult phase separation with a low number of stages.
