چکیده مقاله:

Many teachers suffer from burnout, and perfectionism is a personality characteristic that has been associated with burnout. Though several researchers have thus far attempted to address the relationship between perfectionism and burnout, it seems that few have approached the notion of burnout and perfectionism in an EFL context. Therefore, the present study sought to explore the association between perfectionism and burnout in EFL teachers. Also, it specifically examined if components of perfectionism (i.e., conscientious perfectionism, self-evaluative perfectionism) in EFL teachers had a significant relationship with their burnout dimensions (i.e., emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, personal accomplishment). This investigation was conducted in a number of language institutes in Tehran and 95 EFL teachers participated. Successive to the administration of Maslach Burnout Inventory-Educators Survey (MBI-ES) and the Perfectionism Inventory(PI), the data were analyzed through running Spearman s rho Correlations. The results indicated that there were significant correlations between the perfectionism components and burnout dimensions among EFL teachers. In other words, conscientious perfectionism was negatively correlated with depersonalization. Also, self-evaluative perfectionism was positively correlated with emotional exhaustion and depersonalization.
