چکیده مقاله:

A fundamental change in Educational system of Iran in 2011 caused a change in Iranian EFL educational program in 2012. A shift from traditional approaches (grammar translation method and audio lingual method) to communicative language teaching and task based language teaching was experienced by EFL teachers and students in Iran. This study tries to evaluate Vision 1. Vision 1 is a course book for students to learn English in the tenth grade of public and private high schools. Jahangard (2013) has studied different course book evaluation checklists. He chose 13 criteria to study 13 common criteria features of the previous EFL materials, Right Path to English. This study tries to study the newly published material based on 13 issues raised by him. This study also aims to compare the previous material with the new one. Results indicated that Vision 1is a better material for language teachers to teach in comparison to the previous course book. The findings of this study showed that the new material has changed in bothcontent and method. Strengths and shortcomings were found. The findings of this study may help teachers to teach the material more effectively and authors to improve their material and make it more suitable for Vision 2 and 3.
