Determination of very low levels of precious metals in real samples by atomic absorption by preconcentration on modified MCM-48 and MCM-41

A simple and rapid method was applied for the extraction, preconcentration and determination of trace amounts of gold and palladium by using functionalized mesoporous silicas as solid phase.Extraction was investigated on adsorbents prepared by grafting aminopropyl on the surface of the MCM-41 and MCM-48 mesoporous silicas.The results of MCM-41 were compared with MCM-48 under similar experimental condition. The proposed method has been applied for the determination of gold(III) and palladium(II) in some real samples including waste water and soil samples.
