چکیده مقاله:

In the present study, numerical simulation of the buckling under axial compressive force before and after the impact induced damage in composite grid-stiffened conical shells (CGSCS) including hoop and helical ribs subjected to transverse low-velocity impact of a spherical impactor is achieved using ABAQUS/Explicit code. The grid stiffened shells are manufactured using filament winding process. The impact point is at the intersection of helical and circumferential ribs and in the impact experiment, it is applied using a drop weight test set up. Validation of the present numerical simulation of buckling under axial compressive force is investigated by making comparison between load-displacement results with those obtained from the present experimental set up. Excellent agreement between the results is observed. Investigating the influence of the impact on the axial load carrying capacity of the composite grid-stiffened conical shells shows that the maximum axial load is reduced up to 18.57% (numerical) and 19.06% (experimental).
