Ecotourism and its role in sustainable development of rural areas

Ecotourism is one of important sorts of tourism that is most compatible with development. Rural areas because of its specific environmental, economic, social and cultural conditions, is a resource for tourism. The challenges facing rural planning in Iran is issues related tol sustainability and rural sustainable development. There are several factors that affect rural sustainable development, one of these factors can be tourism and consequences of it. Sustainable rural tourism development can be evaluated using locals satisfaction, tourist's rights and safety, employment, tourist attractions, local participation, variation of economic activities, social welfare, local control and preservation of the environment criteria. The purpose of this study is investigation of the role of ecotourism in sustainable rural development goals.
