The role of environmental design in the sense of security of the citizens

Security of environment is one of the major factors of high quality in human's life. To create a sense ofsecurity of the citizens and reducing and preventing from urban crime, Preventive strategies along withdevelopment and changes in methods of crime should be update and not only should keep pace withcrime progress but also should go beyond it to dominate all aspects of it easily.one of the important andeffective factors of increasing security that has been relatively neglected in our country these days,is therole of architecture and urbanism in reducing the happening of Social disorders.Today,The rise in crime rates, caused that architects and urban planners think about achieving anappropriate Solution to prevent crime. Certainly, crime prevention through environmental design issomething beyond using the fence and locking the door of dwellings. The necessity to security in urbanareas, has led to the formation of a factual theory as the theory of crime prevention throughenvironmental design» (CPTED)that is considered in this paper.The purpose of this study is to survey the effective factors of environmental design in reducing crime andthen in the sense of security of the citizens. It is important to practice this issue because today in theprocess of designing urban spaces pay less attention to the potential of urban areas in reducing orpreventing of crime. in this regard, the role of the environmental design in security of alleys andsidewalks, as well as the distribution method of uses will be examined.
