This article examines the removal of pharmaceutical wastewater containing Ibuprofen by peroxone Process. Reaction time, ozone concentration, initial concentrations of Ibuprofen and hydrogen peroxide are independent variables. The removal efficiency of Ibuprofen (%R) as dependent variable is chosen for artificial neural network (ANN) modeling of our experimental results. ANN model was developed by a feed-forward back propagation network with topology (4: 8: 1). Results indicate the superiority of ANN in capturing the nonlinear behaviour of the system and accurate estimation of Ibuprofen removal. The results also show that the reaction time with a relative importance of 35.61% appears to be the most influential parameter in the peroxone process.
