چکیده مقاله:

Introduction and goal:Infertility is one of the One of the worst experiences of life that can turn into apsychological crisis affecting all aspects of one s life. Since psychological problems causedby infertility can be an important factor in exacerbating infertility and treatment failure, thisstudy aimed to investigate the psychological needs of infertile women.Methods:This is a review article. In this article, the related and appropriate articles were collected from valid databases with no time limit.Results:The overall prevalence of psychological problems in infertile couples is estimated between23% to 63% and include wide range of psychological disorders like anxiety and depressionas the most common outcome, decreased self-esteem, psychological distress, increasedstress levels, fear, worry, sadness, loneliness, guilt, regret and despair.Also there have been reported impulsive behaviors and sporadic anger, feelings of helplessness, worthlessness, inadequacy, and negative self-beliefs, especially in long-term and sometimes unsuccessful treatment. These disorders are more common in infertile women than in men because of social prejudice, which is considered a female problem.Discussion and Conclusion:Because of the higher prevalence of mental disorders among infertile people than in the general population, it is necessary to pay more attention to psychological needs and to integrate psychological services with physical therapy with a holistic approach in the treatment process.
