چکیده مقاله:
Background: Mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae) are the most important groups of arthropods in medical and veterinary. There are some arboviral and parasitic diseases which are transmitted by culicidae mosquitoes in Iran. Objectives: The objective of this study was to determination of fauna and distribution of culicidae family larvae in Shoushtar city (32.0521° N, 48.8498° E), khuzistan province, South of Iran.Materials and Methods: In this survey, after data collection, geographical, ecological in 6 fixed villages Shoushtar city, samplings were carried out using dipping method from January to April 2018. All specimens are mounted and identified using different morphological characteristic via valid keys and deposited in the Medical Arthropod Museum, School of Public Health and Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Iran. Results: Generally, 502 culicidae larvae were collected that identified including three genera and 6 species as follows: Anopheles dthali Paton (1.8%), An. stephensi Liston (6%), Culex. pipiens Linnaeus (8%), Cx. theileri Theobald (52%), Cx. tritaeniorhynchus Giles (32%) and Culiseta longiareolata Macquart (0.2%).Cx. theileri Theobald (52%) was the most abundant species while Culiseta longiareolata Macquart, (0.2%) was the least species. All larvae were collected from natural habitats, generally feeding with seepage water, such as swamps, seepages, streams, river banks, drying river beds, pools, and grasslands. Conclusion: This research shows that, whether in closely-located natural and artificial habitats, higher early instar larval densities result from more females laying eggs. These evidence provide support for use of larval density as an index for activity of mosquitoes. Furthermore, the sharing of habitats by multiple females of anopheline and culicinae mosquitoes suggest that larviciding by auto-dissemination of insecticide may be successful. It is suggested more investigations on Fauna and ecology of culicidae in Khuzistan Province.
