Evaluation of environmental Eco-costs for municipal solid waste landfilling (rasht- guilan)

In this study, the Landfill in Rasht was investigated, so that, about 550 ton MSW is transfer from the city to Landfill, in daily. MSW burial causes several environmental and public health problems. Eco-costs are a measure to express the amount of environmental burden of every activity on the basis of prevention of that burden, that in this study, has been used. The Eco-costs can be used in classical LCA, with applying Simapro software. The calculations are performed for seven categories including: Acidification, Eutrophication, Summer Smog, Fine Dust, Carciogenics, global Warming and Ecotoxicity. Finally, the results are showed the total Eco-cost created by landfilling of MSW in rasht city will be equal to 2/18E+10 rial. This cost should be spent on the work that will control and neutralize the contamination.
