چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim : Numerous infectious agents such as bacteria and protozoa may infect pool waterand endanger human health. Among these, viruses are a major cause of recreational water illnesses (RWIs).The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prevalence rate of viral infection with human papillomavirus(HPV) in swimming pools.Methods : The present review article used keywords of swimming pools, human papillomavirus and waterby searching databases of Google scholar, Science direct, PubMed and SID from 2000 to 2019. Finally, 9articles were enrolled in this study.Results : Analysis of studies documented that there are different types of virus transmitted by differentsecretions and excretions from infected individuals or asymptomatic carriers in pool water, and types ofHPV 8, 12, 23, 25 and 120 and non-classified HPVs may also be among those not included in theclassification of high-risk and low-risk HPVs.Conclusion : According to existing studies, different types of HPV virus are likely to be transmittedthrough pool water and should be further investigated in the future.
