The effect of face-to-face teaching and film on reducing anxiety in mothers in Laber

Background and Aim : Continuous stress and anxiety during pregnancy and lack of it control is a threatto the physical and mental health of mother and infant. Methods of reducing the anxiety of pregnant womenhave an effective role in reducing the psychological problems of the mother and her child. The purpose ofthis study was to compare the effect of face-to-face training and film on reducing anxiety of mothers inlabor.Methods : The research method was quasi-experimental and the research design was pre-test and post-testwith control group. All pregnant mothers with 32-34 weeks gestation who was referred to Zabol healthcenters in the first half of 1977 and met the inclusion criteria, were studied. Sixty primigravida women wererandomly divided into 3 groups of 20 cases, namely the film group in two sessions of film and the face-tofacetraining group in 4 training sessions and the routine care control group. Collecting tools includedHamilton anxiety rating scale questionnaire and demographic information questionnaire. After the pre-test,educational intervention and film on two intervention groups were performed. After face to face trainingand film in two intervention groups, the test was performed. Data analysis by using SPSS software and onewayANOVA, covariance analysis and paired t-test was performed. P value was less than 0.05.Results : The data analysis showed that there was no statistically significant difference in the mean age ofmothers in the three groups. Also, the anxiety means scale in all three groups was not significantly differentat the beginning of the study (P = 0.918); But after the intervention, the mean scale of anxiety in the faceto-face and film group was significantly lower than the control group (P <0.001). Also, the anxiety scale inthe groups receiving face-to-face training and film at the end of the study was significantly lower than thebeginning of the study (P <0.001), but this change was not significantly significant in the control group(P=0.083).Conclusion : In this study,results show that intervention Face-to-face training and film have a positiveeffect on reducing maternal anxiety in laber and increasing satisfaction.
