Optimal placement of PMU - A Literature Review

Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) are very important devices for monitoring and control of power systems. The most advantage of PMUs is giving real time and synchronized measurements. Due to high installation cost of PMUs, it is necessary to minimize the number of PMUs to determine the power system observability. To solve the Optimal Placement Problem (OPP), Heuristic, Meta- Heuristic and Deterministic algorithms have been proposed. This paper considers different popular algorithms for Optimal Placement of PMUs and due to the vast number of publications in this field the most proper articles are reviewed.
