The Effect of Mobile-Assisted Language Teaching on Iranian EFL Learners' Pronunciation Accuracy

Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) gives the chance of using a personable portable devices to enhance learning and presents it the "anytime, anyplace" feature (Fuente, 2014). There is an increase in the use of mobile devices in both educational purposes and personal usage all over the world (Ducate & Lomicka, 2013). In recent years, there has been a large of research addressing the effects of Mobile Assisted Language Teaching fromvarious perspectives. However, few numbers of studies investigated the effects of technologies on pronunciation skill; therefore, the goal of this study was to investigate the possible effect Mobile assisted pronunciation teaching (through Telegram application) on students' pronunciation accuracy. A pre-test and post-test quasi-experimental design was employed to achieve this goal. Therefore, 30 intermediate students enrolled in two sections of American English file course at a language institute in Iran. They participated in ten sessions after each session the experimental group were supposed to complete the assignments online and send them to the teacher. They also received online feedback. Control group were just given traditional pen and paper assignments.The results showed that the experimental group significantly outperformed the control group in terms of pronunciation accuracy.The results have implications for teaching pronunciation through on-line MALL
