Translation of taboos in subtitled movies from English to Persian (Case study of American Pie movies(

This study aims at investigating the strategies which Iranian translators used to translate taboo from English to Persian in series of American pie movies g 2006) framework for classification of strategies. There were 9 movies that were subtitled in underground companies and three out of nine were chosen randomly. For extracting taboos researcher used Sharifi and Darchinian categorization of taboos. After extracting and recording taboos, they were compared with their equivalents .The results of research indicated the most frequently used strategy applied by Iranian translators was Taboo for taboo and the least frequently used strategy was Censorship. Finally underground translators did not pay attention to rules of society and violated these values
