Background: Epilepsy is a neurological disorder whose prevalence is significant. In this study, the psychological dimensions of Dependent Personality Disorder traits and self-esteem in patients with refractory epilepsy and responsive to treatment and their differences, and identify psychological effects in people with epilepsy, This shows that psychotherapy, like drug therapy, can be effective in improving epileptic patients. Methods: This is a causal-comparative study.100 samples have been selected, which included 50 cases of refractory epilepsy to treatment and 50 cases of responsive epilepsy to treatment who were selected by the Neurologist Association for Epilepsy. 50 cases of resistant epilepsy and 50 responsive epilepsy, each group divided into two groups:25 men and 25 women. The age group is between 20 and 60 years old. Cooper Smith s self-esteem questionnaire and Huber s related personality disorder were used. The questionnaires have been sampled individually. Findings: there is a significant difference between Dependent Personality traits in women and men refractory epilepsy and responsive to treatment. And in women with refractory epilepsy, there is a higher dependence Also, self-esteem in people who are refractory epilepsy and responsive to treatment. Conclusion: low self-esteem and high dependence are seen in women and men with refractory epilepsy. Low self-esteem can cause anxiety in a person with epilepsy in the long run, which has a negative effect on medication. Decreasing self-esteem is effective in determining the level of Dependent Personality traits. And ultimately leads to an afflicted Dependent Personality disorder in those with difficulty in treating it.
