چکیده مقاله:

Cities and the streets, squares, public areas and buildings within them are experienced by human beings using all of their different senses; architecture is looked upon, heard, felt, breathed and tasted. Architecture in today’s context emphasizes more upon the appearancethan the feel of the space, hence making it an object for simply observation. We interact with the bu ilt environment using our entire body and all of its senses. People with a visual impairment have to deal with an environment that is often inadequately designed for nonvisualuse. On the other hand, they have a nuanced knowledge of the non-visual qualities of their environment. The senses are increasingly considered in the design of services and products, so why it is that architectural practice and representation focuses primarily uponvisual factors and how might we go about incorporating a more full-bodied approach into our designs? What factors might we consider as part of the process, what additional skills do we need to learn and how might we illustrate the invisible? Architecture that interacts with thehuman body through response of senses is discovered through this study. This research explores primary senses that include vision, touch, hearing, smell and taste in architectural language and experience of space through multisensory architecture. The main intention ofthis study is to explore the various parameters that have an influence on creating architecture integrating all senses to reach to an inclusive design. This research is applied research and the method is descriptive. This research makes an effort to explore architecture communicating asensory language, with a view to address characteristics of various senses getting activated and speculates the appropriateness in use of different parameters regulating the same to achieve universal design.
