چکیده مقاله:
As a controversial issue in translation studies, TQA has raised awareness about the nature of translation quality both in theory and practice despite the fact that it is not a new field of inquiry. Among the proposed models of TQA by translation scholars, House's model of TQA, that is, a functional-pragmatic model, was built on a systematic analysis of ST and TT profiles in the pursuit of mismatches between the original and translation, and it rose to fame. This research; thus, was motivated by a desire to discuss register analysis in dubbings into Persian. The corpus studied here is genre-dependent as one American movie and its Dubbing into Persian were chosen based on a non-probability sampling technique. Then by applying House's TQA (register analysis) to an excerpt from the movie and its dubbing, register variations of the excerpt were evaluated. Some dimensional errors were detected. The findings clearly revealed that although the model wrongly considered several mismatches as errors, these dimensional errors cannot be regarded errors because they are strategies which are inevitably picked up in dubbings into Persian so that the dubbings can be appropriate and acceptable according to socio-cultural norms of the Iranian context.
