چکیده مقاله:
Iranian traditional medicine has been used to treat bacterial and fungal diseases. The purpose of the recent research was to assess the antioxidant, cytotoxic, antibacterial (against Escherichia coli 0157:H7, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumonia, Listeria monocytogenes, Shigella flexneri, Proteus mirabilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus saprophyticus, Streptococcus pyogenes, Bacillus subtilis, and Enterococcus faecalis), and antifungal (against Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, Candida parapsilosis, Candida krusei, Candida guilliermondii) effects of Sophora alopecuriodes L. aqueous extract. Materials and Methods: After identification of the plant, its aqueous extract was obtained using Soxhlet extractor without leaving any chemicals in it. Agar diffusion tests were applied to determine the antibacterial and antifungal characteristics. In agar disk diffusion test, distilled water was used as negative control, while antibacterial (Difloxacin, Chloramphenicol, Streptomycin, Gentamicin, Oxytetracycline, Ampicillin, and Amikacin) and antifungal (Fluconazole, Itraconazole, Miconazole, Amphotericin B, and Nystatin) antibiotics were used as positive controls. Macro broth tube test was run to determine Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC). Findings: Indeed, compared with all standard antibiotics, the S. alopecuriodes aqueous extract showed higher antibacterial and antifungal properties (p<0.01). DPPH free radical scavenging test was carried out to examine the antioxidant effect, which indicated similar antioxidant activity with butylated hydroxy toluene (BHT) as a positive control. Synthesized aqueous extract had great cell viability dose-dependently (Investigating the effect of the plant on Hela, MCF-7, and HEK-293 cell lines) and demonstrated this method was nontoxic for synthesizing S. alopecuriodes. Conclusion: The findings showed the useful antioxidant, non-cytotoxic, antibacterial, and antifungal effects of S. alopecuriodes aqueous extract
