چکیده مقاله:

Background: Violence is a challenging modern epidemicworldwide. Less evidence is available on the effectiveness of theglobal efforts have been implemented for violence prevention. The aim of this study was to ecologically investigate the effectsof violence prevention programs globally. Methods: Data on the age and gender specific rates of countryleveldisability adjusted life years (DALYS) attributable todifferent types of violence i.e. interpersonal violence (IV) orcollective violence and legal interventions (CV) were retrievedfrom the online database provided by the global burden of diseaseproject. Countries were categorized according to their sociodemographicindex (SDI). Incidence rate ratio per one year (IRR)was estimated according to age groups, genders and SDIcategories applying Poisson regression modeling. Results: The highest decrease of the DALYs attributable to IVwas observed for under five-year age group and then for 5-14-years in both genders, globally. Considering the CV, estimatedIRRs were significant only for under five-year age group, whichwas at 0.30(95% CI: 0.20, 0.40, per 10 years) for girls and0.29(95% CI: 0.21, 0.39, per 10 years) for boys. Conclusion: The rate of DALYs due to the IV has been moredecreasing among women and children. It seems that current IVpreventive programs are not adequately effective especially inless social developed countries. By the next 10 years, theattributed DALYS to CV would be increase up to 120%.Children, adolescents and women are highly affected by the CVin the countries with middle-low and middle social development.
