چکیده مقاله:
In recent years, the expression “Sustainable Engineering” has become a catchphrase in whole industries, especially in design and operation of chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas industries. Although there have been several attempts for inherently safer design of processes, there is still a need of guideline for incorporating inherent safe principles and green engineering criteria into design, commissioning and operation stage of a project.Green HAZOP is a powerful tool that aims to discover how deviations from the green design intent can occur during the different phases of a project realization in equipment,actions or materials and whether the consequences of these deviations can result in a non green or non-sustainable process.This innovative approach will allow engineers and companies to reach the highest design standard for their industries. This paper presents green engineering principles and fundamental methodology of Green HAZOP (g-HAZOP) and illustrates how green engineering is applied using this tool and, more importantly, how chemical processes can be transformed into environmentally-friendly and safety-enhanced processes by the correct application of the principles.
