چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: The ABO blood group system was first discovered by Landsteiner. The antigens of the ABO system are expressed on RBC. Cancer is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body, it is one of a leading causes of death worldwide, accounting for an estimated 9.6 million deaths in 2018. Materials and Methods: In this way, the search was performed on the pancreatic cancer and ABO blood group key words in databases including Pub Med, Scopus and Google Scholar search engine. After that, with factoring in the classification of articles in the field of medicine, then the time limit was applied to the published articles from 1990 to 2019, then the research factor was applied only to human, which ended with 73 articles. All articles were then reviewed and evaluated, and finally 21 articles with entry criteria were selected. Results: Baseline characteristics of participants including age, smoking status, alcohol drinking, hypertension, diabetes, blood pressure and BMI and… in those study were highly similar across ABO blood groups. Our results showed that ABO blood group was associated with total cancer incidence. As it was assumed that the blood group O was considered as a base group, it was considered to be 1, cumulative frequency of the blood group A 1.97(1.53-2.61), B 1.42(1.28-1.57), AB 1.95(1.22-2.91) obtained. Conclusion: Articles reviewed confirmed the existence of people with O blood group has lower risk to getting pancreatic cancer in conditions are almost the same. The association was statistically significant in the pancreatic cancer with having A antigen on RBC. Accordingly, it’s likely that theirs reliable link between the antigens on RBC with pancreatic cancer in different research countries.
