Introducing the new stratigraphic section and microfacies study of the Dariyan Formation (Seydan Section) and in the Interior Fars Province, Zagros Fold-Thrust Belt

Field Study in Interior Fars province release that the outcrop of the Dariyan Formation in north western nose of the Seydan Anticline has not been mentioned in Eghlid nor Sivand geological maps. Lithostratigraphy study and microfacies analysis show that these sediments belong to the Dariyan Formation. Three clear stratigraphic units (lower Dr., Kazhdumi Tongue and upper Dr.) have been determined in this section. 9 sedimentary facies identified that have been deposited in 3 subenvironments (lagoon, open marine and basin). Generally, the sedimentary condition interpreted as top platform to intra-shelf basin conditions. The pelagic sediments reflects that the Kazhdumi Intrashelf Basin and its basement subsidence has been expanded to this area.
