Evaluate the Effect of Reducing Carbohydrates in Attention Deficit andHyperactivity of Children

The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of reducing carbohydrates in attention deficit andhyperactive of children. This was an experimental study with pretest - posttest and control group. Thestatistical population included children with attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder who visited TehranTreatment Centers. In asemi-experimental study with control group, 30 children with Attention DeficitHyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) were randomly assigned to an experimental group and a control group.Conner questionnaire was administered on the subjects. Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity wasmeasured among the subjects in the first phase. An intervention was implemented on the experimentalgroup while no intervention was administered to the control group. The first experimental groupunderwentrefined carbohydrate reduction program for 8 weeks. The collected data was analyzed usingmultivariate analysis of covariance. The covariance analysis resultsshowed that Attention Deficitsymptoms were reduced in carbohydratereduction experimental groups compared with the controlgroup. According to findings, it can be concluded that carbohydratereduction is effective in decreasingthe symptoms of attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder
