Evaluation of endoparasites infection in goldfishes distributed in Urmia, Iran

Objective: To determine the prevalence rate of the endoparasites, in 110 goldfishes distributed in Urmia. Method & Materials: Blood samples were stained with Geimsa. Then the wet smears of eyes were prepared. Also, the content of alimentary canal and its mucous, as well as abdominal cavity and internal organs like kidney, liver and swimming bladder were studied to determine its parasitic infection. Results & Conclusion: In all 110 goldfishes, infection to Diplostomum spathaceum was observed in 11 cases (10%), Acanthocephala infection in 1 sample (0.9%) and oocyct of Eimeria infection in 2 cases (1.8%). The results obtained from the statistical analysis showed no significant relation between the factors such as sex, length and weight of goldfish as well as the relation between type of pool and the type and rate of endoparasites of goldfishes.
