چکیده مقاله:

Objective: The aim of this study was to conduct an epidemiological survey on ich disease and its prevalence in cold water fish farms in Paveh Method & Materials: The survey was conducted on 150 randomly selected fish in summer. Following random selection the fish were preserved in ice and were immediately (in less than an hour) sent to the laboratory to prepare wet mounts from skin and gill mucosa scrapings. Microscopic examinations showed 3 trophonts from 3 fish. The trophonts were only from the skin samples Results & Conclusion: The aim of the present study was to determine Ich disease prevalence in the mentioned farms, to locate the points on fish body where there is maximum presence of the parasite, to determine the mortality rate, and the source of contamination. Considering the risk factors in ich disease (high density, using well water for fish farming, occurrence of wild fish in the pool, not drying the pool, and not controlling the pool prior to releasing the fish), and taking the low mortality rate in the studied farm into account, it can be concluded that most of the mentioned risk factors has been avoided. As we were the first to investigate the disease in the pools and as the water from 3 upper pools was used for the 2 lower pools, we suggested to use a filter between the farms (pools). By working on 2 pools with a capacity of 3 tons each, 1 pool with a capacity of 5 tons, and 2 pools with a capacity of 10 tons each and random sampling from these 5 pools with 30 fish from each, the following statistical data were obtained; differences were not significant.
