چکیده مقاله:

Heavy metal contaminants such as Ni (II) have become hazardous because of their tendency to accumulate in living species. Nickel ion exists in the effluent of industries such as plating, which its removal regarding to environmental standards is not avoidable. In this work, an aqueous suspension of magnetic nanoparticles used for batch adsorption of Ni (II) aqueous solution as a waste water model. The particles were prepared by co-precipitation of Fe (III) and Fe (II) in the presence of ammonia. The particles were characterized using TEM, DLS and BET techniques. The effect of different conditions was investigated on the adsorption behavior of Ni (II). It was shown that the Ni (II) adsorption depends on initial Ni (II) concentration, pH and temperature of the system. The optimum pH for Ni (II) adsorption was 8. The adsorption increased with increment of temperature. The concentration of Ni (II) in an industrial effluent was decreased from 4ppm to 1ppb at the optimum condition.
