Breast screening: methods and patterns across regions

Early detection leading to improvements in treatability of the disease and survival of the patient are the ultimate aim of breast cancer screening. Breast screening is offered to women in many countries. However, there are considerable differences in methods, eligibility and access. Although bilateral mammography remains the mainstay of breast cancer screening globally, but the age range and screening intervals are quite variable. Also, availability of other methods of screening such as MRI for special subgroups may differ.In this presentation, a review of current screening approaches will be made and pros and cons of different methodologies will be discussed.
