چکیده مقاله:

Introduction & Aim: Different factors affect the breast cancer screening performance of women. Internal health locus of control can affect the performance of women in cancer screening specially in breast cancer screening .The objective of this study is assess the relationship between internal health locus of control and breast self-examination of women in Tehran.Methods: This cross-sectional study carried on 250 women who referred to health centers of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran. Convenience sampling method was used for selection of women who had inclusion criteria. The tool which used for this study is a questionnaire including: health locus of control, breast self-examination practice and demographic information. Data were analyzed by SPSS version17.Results: The result of this study showed that the mean age of participant were 34.98±11.56 years. One third of them were diploma and 86.3% of them were housewife. The internal health locus of control in women with having breast self-examination (22.81±6.73) significantly higher than the others (20.32±8.53) (p=0.001).Conclusion: Our study provided new insights about and breast self-examination of women in Tehran n with internal health locus of control.
