چکیده مقاله:

Introduction and Aim: Breast cancer is the second most common cancer worldwide after lung cancer, the fifth most common cause of cancer death ,and leading cause of cancer death in women.Cucurbitacins are highly oxidized tetracyclic triterpenoids which can introduce inhibitory effects on cancer cells in a different way such as programmed cell death. The aim of this study was to evaluate the inhibitory effects of Cucurbitacin I (CuI) on MDA-MB468 breast cancer cell line. Method: by the use of Real Time RT-PCR, the expression of apoptosis, autophagy and cell survival pathways vital genes were compared. For this purpose, we evaluated the expression of P53, Bax, Bcl2, Casp3, Atg5, Beclin1, LC3, Akt and Pten genes. Results & Conclusion: The results demonstrated that CucurbitacinI can induce autophagy pathway in MDA-MB468 through Atg5 dependent and ATG5 independent pathways.
