Analysis of Knowledge and Attitude of Nursing Students of Neyshabur Medical School about Breast Cancer in 2018.

Introduction & Aim: Breast cancer is one of the most important and common diseases in Iranian women and around the world. Knowing enough information about the disease and its prevention and screening procedures is required for any woman. The aim of this study was to evaluate the knowledge of nursing students of Neyshabur Medical School about breast cancer and their attitudes toward screening methods for this disease in 2018. Methods: This research is a descriptive-correlational study. The research population was Nursing students of Neyshabur Medical School . 70 people of them were entered into the study by accessible method. To determine the sample size, previous studies were used. To collect data breast cancer knowledge questionnaire, knowledge of risk factors and symptoms, and questionnaire of attitudes toward disease screening methods was used. After data entry to spss22, descriptive statistics (central indexes and dispersion) and inferential statistics (with regard to normality of Pearson, independent T test and ANOVA tests) were used to analyze the data. Results: The mean score of knowledge about breast cancer (17.10 ± 3.67) was relatively high. Mean score of attitude towards the screening methods of this disease (56.02 ± 4.87) was moderate. Also, there was a positive and meaningful relationship between knowledge and attitude of students (P <0/05). Conclusion: According to the results of the study, based on the high level of knowledge of people about breast cancer and its relationship with the attitude towards screening methods is suggested that Public education be done to learn more about breast cancer screening methods and emphasis the need of do it.
