چکیده مقاله:

the obtained experimental results as wall as the results from the simulation of the direct shear box [1] for the orientated fissures did not show a significant effect on the effective shear strength neither in the experiments nor in the two dimensional numerical models. This paper reports the procedure applied in different stage of simulation and also the result obtained from the study of the effects of the orientation of fissures on the effective shear strength predicted by the effects of the orientation of fissures on the effective shear strength predicted by the three dimensional finite element models and experimental test conducted on the artificially overconsolidated fully or partially fissured clay samples. In order to investigate the effects of fissure orientation as well as fissure discontinuity, the obtained axperimental results from the fully fissured and unifissured sample subjected to direct shear and triaxial tests were applied to the three dimensional models of the triaxial samples developed by the finite element program, Ansys , version 5.2 [2]. After calibration of the coefficient required for the computer modeling and verifying the models for the same initial conditions by using the available experimental results, the models were run for the different orients of the fully and partially fissured triaxial sample models. The obtained numerical result would be used for an empirical formulation fissured clay mass.
