چکیده مقاله:
Introduction and Objectives: Oropharyngeal Candidiasis (OPC) continues to be considered the most common opportunistic fungal disease in HIV/AIDS patients. Rapid identification of Candida species has become more important because of an increase in infections caused by species other than Candida albicans, including species innately resistant to azole antifungal drugs. The aim of this study was rapid identification of Candida spp obtained from oral cavity of HIV/ADIS patients with PCR and by ITS86-ITS4 primers. Materials and Methods: In this study 5 different strains of Candida obtained from oral cavity of HIV/ADIS patients were studied. These samples were identified with PCR and by ITS86-ITS4 primers. Result: The primers used successfully amplified DNA from all Candida strains tested. After amplification, products of approximately 250-290 bp were obtained. Candida tested included 2 Candida albicans (280 bp), 1 C. parapsilosis (260 bp), and 2 C. glabrata (260 bp). Conclusion: Amplification of ITS2/5.8S rDNA shows potential as a rapid technique for identifying Candida spp isolated from HIV/ADIS patients.
