چکیده مقاله:

Introduction and Objectives: Biofilm producing bacteria are less sensitive to antibiotics than planktonic cells. Bacterial cells in the biofilm are often exposed to levels below inhibitory concentrations and may develop resistance.Theaim of this study was to evaluate the antibiotic resistance and the biofilm formation ofAcinetobacter strains as the important agents of nosocomial infections.Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, Urinary and pulmonary samples of patients with nosocomial infections from different hospitals of Kerman were studied. 10 Acinetobacter strainswere identified by conventional and biochemical methods. Antibiotic susceptibility tests were carried out using a disk diffusion method. The cell surface103hydrophobicity (CSH) of all strains was measured at 660 nm. The strain withmore than 60 % CSH was selected for biofilm test on glass and Polypropylene. Results: The antibiotic resistance was 20% for clostin, 60% for gentamycin and 90% for ampicemin. Isolated strain of Acinetobacter from the urine specimen with CSH of 65.62 was selected for biofilm test. The biofilm formation was measured on glass and Polypropylene tubes in static and shake conditions. Observed absorbance by spectrophotometer were 0.035 and 0.025 about biofilm formation on plastic and propylene, respectively. Conclusion: Understanding the current antibiotic resistance patterns, selection of the appropriate antibiotics for the treatment of nosocomial infections is also a big challenge. Finding accurate information about multidrug resistant strains of Acinetobacter strains will allow us for better programming in resistance interruption in the future. Keywords:Nosocomial infection,Acinetobacter baumannii, antibiotic resistance, biofilm formation.
