چکیده مقاله:

Epoxides are the key starting materials for a wide variety of organic compounds which their importance arises mainly from their ring opening reactions [1]. Due to this, catalytic epoxidation of alkenes to produce epoxides is one of the most widely studied reactions in the catalytic oxidation reactions [2]. Various transition metal complexes and wide range of oxidants have been employed for production of epoxides from olefins [3]. Considering literature indicates the Salen-type Mn(III) complexes, known also has Jacobsen’s catalysts, are active and selective catalysts for epoxidation of olefins to epoxides [4]. Due to this, the synthesis and investigation of the catalytic properties of Mn(III) complexes has attracted considerable attention during last decade. In the report, we describe the synthesis, characterization and catalytic properties of a new dinuclear Mn(III) complex, [Mn2(μ-OCH3)2(L)2(CH3OH)2]·2Cl (1). The complex was synthesized from the reaction of MnCl2·4H2O and Schiff base ligand (HL = (1Z,3E)-3-((2-aminocyclohexyl)imino)-1-phenylbut-1-en-1-ol) in methanol. Complex 1 was characterized by spectroscopic methods and single crystal X-ray analysis. The obtained dinucelar Mn(III) complex was used a catalyst in epoxidation of olefins (see scheme 1) and the products of the catalytic reactions were identified by GC. The catalytic reactions were carried out in aerial atmosphere and H2O2 was used as a green oxidant. The effects of various parameters including the molar ratio of oxidant, temperature and solvent were studied in order to obtain optimum condition. The results of catalytic studies indicated that the obtained dinuclear Mn(III) complex is an active and selective catalyst for the epoxidation of olefins by hydrogen peroxide.
