چکیده مقاله:

This paper summarizes the procedure as well as a long term vibration monitoring procedure carried out for low-rise precast concrete building due to ground borne vibration in Sri Lanka. The methodology used in this study is mainly based on BS5228. In order to achieve target goals firstly, the building was visually investigated and methods of detail investigation procedures were developed. Furthermore, the existing damages were identified and recorded. Secondly, the building movements and the accelerations were monitored using strain gauges and accelerometers, which were fixed to the building at critical locations. Finally, the peak particle velocities, accelerations of the main structural system and strain values of individual members obtained from the investigation were compared with threshold values given in the relevant code of practices. The monitoring procedure implemented in this work can be adopted for any other structure in order to prevent the damages to property and reduce the damage to the neighbouring building due to pilling operation
