efficient color image compression with virtual SPIHT

in this paper we propose a novel wavelet based efficient and embedded tech nique for color image compression the efficiency is achieved by first combining clusters of zerotrees in the luminance plane into fewer and longer zerotrees by using the concept of virtual zerotrees and then combining the zerot rees of two chrominance planes of correspond ingly same position with a single root node in the luminance plane the simulation results show the improved performance of the proposed technique over the other state -of -the -art image encoders such as SPIHT and JPEG2000
