The Study of Water as an Urban Design Element with an Emphasis on Visual Components and Environmental Quality

Urban space is perceptible objective by the citizens, whose information sent from it, is not just physical and visual information, but also information that is perceived by all senses. The beauty is one of the categories that achieving it, help to the success and functioning of an urban space. But the important issue here is the beauty underestanding way by people and users of space. Promoting the environment quality in the urban areas and spaces has high importance because of the desirability and pleasure of visual landscapes are for the natural being and human peripheral manifestations that derives from the desired interaction between human and the environment. Today, one of the most important issues that has attracted the attention of urban planners and designers is the need to promote the quality of urban vision and landscape within the framework of the visual-aesthetic component of the environment quality. An issue not alone but in addition to the promotion of other components of the environment quality, such as performance-activity, semantic-perceptual and environmental components, can provide a context for promoting the environment quality in the public spaces and areas of modern cities. Water is manifested as a simple element in nature, and along with this simplicity, it is full of complexities that appear in their various effects. Water as one of the most basic natural elements has had a significant effect on the formation and effectiveness of urban spaces from past to now, and its various effects have always excited and stimulated the tendency of human to the beauty. In this paper, the research method is also documentary (library studies) according to the theoretical nature of the research. This research seeks to answer the question that what effect does water have on the quality of urban space
