چکیده مقاله:
This study was an attempt to investigate whether teaching critical strategies have any significant effect on reading Islamic texts among EFL learners. To fulfill the purpose of this study, 77 male and female students within the age range of 17 to 32 years studying at Payame Noor University, Tabriz were selected based on their performance on a Nelson proficiency test and a piloted teacher-made reading test then randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups. After the 12-session treatment, a piloted reading post-test was administered to the participants. Finally, the results indicated that teaching critical thinking strategies proved to have a significant effect on reading Islamic texts. Moreover, the results specified that there was significant difference in the effect of strategy use on reading comprehension of males and females, while males outperformed females
