چکیده مقاله:

The tourism sector proved to be resistant from the global crisis. When the global economy weakened, the growth of tourism in Indonesia continue to grow, even surpassing the national economic growth. In 2014 the growth of the tourism sector in Indonesia reached 9.39 percent, it’s higher than the previous year. The growth was above the growth of national economic which reached 5.7 percent.The potential of Indonesia's tourism sector is very huge. Indonesia is a beautiful country, has diverse ethnic groups, languages and cultures, all of factors which is expected to attract more foreign exchange, both foreign and domestic travelers. Furthermore the tourism sector expected expected can drive community economy, through a community-based tourism development. Therefore one of the government policy package is to improve the trade and logistics to become more smoothly, through reforms in the tourism sector in the terms of visa-free visits policy, to increase tourist visits from domestic and foreign.The development of tourism sector can bring positive and negative impacts. The positive impact can be seen in the improvement of the economy of the community around the tourist area and also give contribution to local government revenue. While the negative impacts will be an air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, garbage pollution, destruction of archaeological and historical sites, and land use issues (Widyastuti A.R. 2010). Another study from Mill and Morisson in Fandelli C. (1999) also reveal that tourism may be one of several development options open to a location. Although tourism can bring economic advantages to a destination country, it can also bring economic advantages to destination country, it can also bring social change and environmental deterioration.The potential of tourism sector is expected to be one of the economic driving is expected to not only provide currently benefits but also future benefits. Therefore, the development of the tourism sector should take into account the environmental issues. Furthermore the development of tourist destinations should considered about the sustainability of natural resources in the tourist area. The development of tourism is not only concerned with current situation but also the sustainability in the future, it can referred to sustainable tourism.Indonesia Sustainable Tourism Charter, known as Piagam Pariwisata Berkelanjutan, states that tourism development should be based on sustainability criteria, which means that development can be supported ecologically in the long term at the same time economically viable, socially and ethics equitable towards society. Sustainable tourism development can be recognized by its principles, which are participation, the engagement between stakeholders, local ownership, sustainable use of resources, accommodate the society goals, monitoring and evaluation, accountability, training and promotion.Sustainable tourism requires management in the tourism sector that takes into account environmental factors, therefore, this study objectives to analyze the current tourism management and provide recommendations regarding the appropriate management scheme for sustainable tourism sector. This research is expected to be a guideline for policy makers in the field of tourism sector for the management of sustainable tourism. The policy that will be made based on this study, expected to reduce the negative impact of the development of the tourism sector
