چکیده مقاله:

The Communicative Approach method of teaching English as a second language is currently the most popular in the view of those teaching it. This study will investigate how teachers in the Preparatory School of Eastern Mediterranean University developed Communicative Approach in the classroom. Communicative Approach in this study is defined as the ability to manipulate all skills, especially in communicative competence.The participants selected for this study were teachers in the Preparatory School of Eastern Mediterranean University. The aim of this study is to investigate the teachers’ attitude towards the dimensions of Communicative Approach. The questionnaire of Evdokia Karavas- Doukas(1996) was borrowed to scale the teachers attitudes towards activities such as group work, importance of grammar, contribution of learners and error correction. Then the results were analyzed by SPSS software.Overall, the results of this study indicated that the teachers’ attitudes toward Communicative Approach did not cover all characteristics of Communicative Approach but they favor the characteristics that are more comfortable or suitable to the classroom.
