Interaction of Economic, Social, and Environmental indicators for Sustainable Development: A systems thinking point of view

The concept of sustainability has been familiarized for a long time from different aspects. Many researchers focus on optimizing the economic, social, or environmental factors of sustainability or a dual or even a triple combination of the indicators by means of presenting mathematical models. However, the results may not be acceptable in the real world due to relaxations that must be occurred in the structure of models to solve them. On the other hand, a systematic analysis of such indicators may rebound to valuable strategies, helping sustainable- searching organizations to create effective strategies and polices. With this regard, this study applies a systems thinking approach for analysis of sustainable development indicators (i.e., economic, social, and environmental ones) by means of rendering a System Dynamics model. The results of the developed model help managers to analyze different polices and select the most appropriate strategies considering the different aspects of any society. The results also show the superiority of our model in comparison with the other proposed models in the literature.
