Seasonal variation of total hydrocarbon (TPH) concentration on Iranian coastal area Guilan province of Caspian Sea

The Caspian Sea as the world largest land – locked water basin draw the attention of man from the late Holocene its unique feature and quality of water but recently the over exploitation of oil and aquatic organisms is under sever stress of pollution southern region of Caspian Sea in Iran covers seven percent of the water shade area and provides only 5 percent of water discharge into Caspian Sea while wind current direction transfer pollution from neigh boring countries to coastal region Iran hydrocarbon survey in costal area of less than 10 meter on Guilan province showed that the hydrocarbon level decrees from west to east with exception of Anzali port where the most shipping activity occur high level of TPH were observed seasonal survey indicate that the level of TPH on were several order greater that the other season the minimum value were 0.02 mg/l recorded in station Astara and maximum value 8.87 mg/l observed in station Dastac while it is greater than the standard permissible value.
