Synthesis of latex Nano particles and polymer /clay Nano-composite particles andinvestigation of their effect on water absorption and the flexural strength of cement

two type of acrylic polymer latex and their polymer/clay composite were synthesized by emulsionpolymerization. The effects of adding latexes and concentration of clay in the Nano-composite latexes on the waterabsorption and the flexural strength of cement were analyzed. The maximum flexural strength was achieved forsamples that modified with composite, containing 3% of Nano clay/polymer ratio. The amount of water absorbed bythe polymer modified samples decreased more than 65 percent. The suitable distribution of clay particles in thepolymer was shown by TEM micrograph
