چکیده مقاله:

series of visible light-responsive poly(methyl methacrylate) PMMA/TiO2 nanocomposite transparentfilms, with different loading of TiO2 nanoparticles, were facilely prepared by using ionic liquid-in-oil microemulsionsystem. The microemulsion system was containing methylmethacrylate monomer as continues phase, 1-buthyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([bmim][BF4]) as dispersant phase, Triton X-100 as surfactant and 1-buthanol asco-surfactant. TEM technique was used to characterize the resulting nanocomposite. The PMMA/TiO2 nanocompositeexhibit lucid core-shell decorated structure. The core-shell nanospheres were obtained in presence of IL and eachnanosphere has a ring of titania as shell which wrapped in a hard continuous polymeric matrix. As an application, theantibacterial activity of nanocomposite was evaluated against clinical isolates of Gram-positive (Bacillus spp. andStaphylococcus aureus) and Gram-negative (Escherichia coli and Klebsiellaspp.) bacteria. The Kirby-bauer methodwas accomplished for determination of zone of inhibition and Micro-plate dilution method for Minimal InhibitoryConcentration (MIC) and Minimal Bactericidal Concentration (MBC). The obtained results revealed that antibacterialactivity of nanocomposite was improved compared with pure PMMA due to existence of modified IL/TiO2nanoparticles under visible light irradiation.
