چکیده مقاله:

The purpose of this work was to evaluate the antibacterial activity of copper- incorporated bioactive glass(Cu45SBG) nanoparticles and copper free bioactive glass (45SBG) nanoparticles. The antibacterial effect was studiedusing Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus)as a test micro-organism. The bioactive glass (BG) nanoparticles weresynthesized by the sol-gel technique. Characterization techniques such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Xraydiffraction (XRD) and X-ray fluorescent (XRF), were used. The antimicrobial activity of nanoparticles wasevaluated by determining the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC).The chemical compositions of BGs were assame as the predicted compositions. The size of BG nanoparticles with an amorphous structure mainly obtained lessthan 100 nm. Both BGs nanoparticles have no antibacterial effect at broth concentrations less than 12.5 mg/ml.Cu45SBG nanoparticles with MBC of 25 mg/ml were more efficient on S. aureous bacteria than 45SBG nanoparticleswith the MBC of 50 mg/ml.
