چکیده مقاله:
In recent years, non-spherical and composite polymeric particles with special morphologies and their preparation methods have attracted the attention of scientific community all around the world. These particles are mainly synthesized by dispersion polymerization. Most of the works in this field are focused on the preparation of polystyrene and polymethyl methacrylate microspheres. In this work, we present the synthesis methods for micron-sized poly(n-butyl methacrylate) (PnBMA), poly(lauryl methacrylate) (PLMA) particles in addition to poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) ones via dispersion polymerization in methanol-water media. These particles with average diameter 1-5 μm are going to be used as seeds in seeded dispersion polymerization to produce the desired nanoparticles. The effect of monomer concentration and polymerization temperature on the particle size and particle size distribution was studied. Analysis of microscopic images showed that particle size becomes smaller with decreasing monomer and temperature
