چکیده مقاله:

By increasing environmental information in recent years and necessity of sustainable urban design, building sustainable urban structures in the riverbanks, preservation and sanitation of natural resources in the cities and increasing the quality of water resources besides promoting spatial qualities are severely required. Based on such views urban rivers that require connecting social approaches to ecological issues entails that fact that works should be accomplished so that an equilibrium to be established between social approaches, aesthetics, hydrologic and ecological issues to result in environmental sustainability. Kan River is located in such situation and its establishment than Tehran city and flowing of the river provided the greatest opportunity for preserving and building sustainable urban spaces and urban green spaces. Preservation and developing current environmental qualities in definition of Tehran’s townscape and its identity integration has a principle influence. Kan River with its different green forms has extraordinary diversity in addition the index of environmental quality of Tehran city and provides the best opportunity for the more appropriate sustainable urban designs for spare times. Finally sustainable urban design approach toward policies and strategies in the main structure of this river, like opening the rivers ban, creating bicycle and passenger way routes, connecting the eastern and western parts of the river that causes connecting 5 and 22 districts, establishing appropriate uses and changing incompatible uses resulted in compatible uses, but in the long term it is possible to reach in more policies and strategies.
