Tide induced circulation in Shahid Rajaee harbour

The water quality and sedimentation within the harbours and ports have recently become an important factor in planning of such basins. In the past, harbours with various shapes and configurations were designed and constructed. However, some of them were then found to posses poor water quality characteristics, with the problems generally occurring as a result of internal stagnant regions dominating within the harbour. Also , removal and disposal of sediment deposited in harbour basing often involve high cost, particularly when the sediment is contaminated with micro-pollutants that are adsorbed on the clay and silt particles, Since the water quality characteristics and siltation process mainly depends on the flow pattern, then the determination of the velocity field within such basins will be an important issue.
